Sathnam Sanghera's recent book, Empireworld: How British Imperialism Has Shaped the Globe, examines Britain's idea of its own imperial history as opposed to the world's experience of it. Weaving together wit, political insight and personal honesty, Sanghera explores the international legacies of the British empire – from the creation of tea plantations across the globe, and the connotations of royal tours. Traversing across the globe, Sanghera in conversation with writer Shrabani Basu, evaluates how deeply rooted imperialism is in today's world.

Sathnam Sanghera is an award-winning author and writer for The Times. His memoir, The Boy with the Topknot and his novel Marriage Material were shortlisted for the Costa Book Awards , the former being named Mind Book of the Year in 2009. His third and fourth books, Empireland: How Imperialism Has Shaped Modern Britain and Empireworld: How British Imperialism has Shaped the Globe, became instant bestsellers on release.

Shrabani Basu is a journalist and Sunday Times best-selling author. Her books include the critically acclaimed The Mystery of the Parsee Lawyer, For King and Another Country, Victoria & Abdul (now a major Oscar-nominated motion picture starring Dame Judi Dench) and Spy Princess. She has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of London for services to literature.
