Brief History NY Puerto Rican Parade and Festival

Описание к видео Brief History NY Puerto Rican Parade and Festival

(Surprise in the last 30 seconds of the video) Every year Puerto Ricans go all out to celebrate their culture. The celebrations are manifested in festivals and parades not only in Puerto Rico but throughout the continental United States.

No where are these celebrations more evident than the Festival and Parade in New York City, which makes sense because the city holds the largest concentration of Puerto Ricans outside of Puerto Rico.
Although Puerto Ricans in New York were separated from island physically, they were never separated mentally or spiritually. And in this sentiment of pride and love for their island was born the Puerto Rican Day Parade (the first which was held in 1958 in Manhattan) and the Puerto Rican festival (first held in 1985) and now known as 116th Street Festival in NYC.
