Daylight Dies are an American melodic death/doom metal band, formed in 1996 and active ever since. They have released 4 LPs, 1 EP and 1 demo so far.
I wasn't able to find a good scan of the tape cover, so this will have to work. "The Long Forgotten" is a great example on how to not suck at doing melody in death metal and on how versatile death/doom can be. The band's sound brings influences from bands such as Katatonia, Novembers Doom and a black metal style of tremolo picking and vocals in many melodic riffs.
If you read my descriptions, even if only every now and then, you know I'm really not a fan of melodeath, but Daylight Dies deserves a spot in my "actually pretty cool" melodic death metal list. They mixed (almost all of) the good parts of death/doom and infused with as much melody as they could before turning their music into the shitty mainstream "melodeath" we easily find nowadays. What can I say, the 90's where pretty rad.
