In this episode, I chat with Jason Civalleri, Esq., about some thorny legal issues and trends affecting crypto, decentralized finance, DAOs and DAO governance and "NFTs as securities". Jason also dives into the hot off the presses SEC settlement agreement with BlockFi  about its lending product deemed to be a security. Jason explains why the decision may actually provide a light at the end of the confusing tunnel of when lending products require registration with the Securities and Exchange Commission. 


Jason is an attorney with the boutique law firm Horizons Law, with a deep knowledge and appreciation for crypto. He has helped to advise many notable projects including Dapper, Solana, Synthetix, Orca, Genesis Block, Grayscale, and Coinlist. During his tenure there, fully decentralized business entities, represented anonymous hackers and those that stop them, merged billion-dollar DAOs, advised on emerging DeFi derivatives and products, pioneered new open-source licensing, and even pioneered methods for clients to offer high-yield centralized lending products without authoritative backlash.
