A Digital Health Solution for Child Growth Monitoring at Home

Helen L. Storr, MD, PhD, a professor in pediatric endocrinology at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, UK, shares insights from her article appearing in the December issue of MCP: DH, where she and the authors developed and evaluated a smartphone app which accurately measures height and provides notification when abnormalities are detected. Dr. Storr concludes the novel ‘GrowthMonitor’ app provides the potential to capture measurements at home, without specialized equipment, at a low cost, and has the potential to be a highly effective tool to identify disorders of growth in children at any age and prompt timely referrals.
