Having performed with illustrious big bands such as Charles Mingus, Lionel Hampton, Billy Eckstine, and The Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, he has not only showcased his versatility but also led his own quintet. Proficient in playing the soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and flute, Richardson was in great demand as a soloist, contributing to numerous recording sessions, television productions, and film scores.
