This book teaches us that some rules are unwritten! Rules are meant to guide
us but sometimes we have to use our own common sense and knowledge when
making decisions

Ian always follows the rules. “Rules are meant to be followed”, Ian says. Ian’s older
sister Jenny never follows the rules. When they get to their vacation home there’s a framed
piece of paper that says, THE RULES OF THE HOUSE and Ian reads them out to Jenny! 1. Remove
muddy shoes; 2. Don’t leave a ring in the bathtub; 3. Replace firewood; 4. Never open the red
door. Soon enough, Jenny breaks rules 1-3. When Ian points it out, Jenny gets so mad that she
also breaks rule 4 and opens the red door! That night, the rug, bathtub and stove all come after
Jenny wanting to have the rule breaker for dinner! Ian runs into the woods leaving his sister to
be eaten. In the woods, he realizes there should be an, ALWAYS SAVE YOUR SISTER FROM BEING
EATEN BY MONSTERS rule. So he runs back and saves Jenny just in time!
