Signing up for the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek may seem easy on paper for seasoned hikers. With daily climbs of less than 1000m and distances of up to 10KM, it might not appear too challenging for the relatively fit. However, this trek is far from a walk in the park, and many things can go wrong.

Just before we began our journey, we heard that someone had passed away on the very same trail we were about to take. We were warned to avoid taking risks and to stop when necessary. We heard these warnings and were ready to take on the challenge, but things did go wrong.
