Let’s Make New Friend
Alex was going to a new school. He made a new friend, Ron, with whom he liked to play the whole day.One day, Ron invited Alex to his home, where they could play more. When Alex went to see Ron, he found him with his two other friends, Peter and Sam. Alex was afraid of making new friends. He believed that only one friendship can exist
at a time. Ron tried to patch things up, but Alex asked him to choose between them and him. Ron tried convincing Alex to come and play as a group. But, he could not share his only friend, Ron, with anybody else. So, he left Ron with a broken heart.From the next day, Alex started playing with another friend, Ian. But soon, he realized he was missing Ron, and his playtime with Ian was not as exciting as it was with Ron.
IAN: I know, you miss Ron. Why don’t you become friends with other friends of his? That way, we can all be a group and play together.
ALEX: I know. But, Ron and I were very close. What if his other friends don’t like me? I’ll not be able to handle it.
One day, Ian found Ron alone and told him about Alex’s fears and how he longed to be with him again.I know Alex is a nice guy. Even I miss him, but he definitely needs to do away with his possessive attitude.The two boys made a plan to fix things up. The next day, while Alex and Ian were havinglunch, Ian, left in the middle to pick his bag from the classroom. Alex was alone now. Just then, Ron came to him.
RON: Hi Alex, how are you?
ALEX: Good! But why would you be concerned?
RON: Because I am still your friend. Yes, I do have other friends, too. Also, I do not believe in leaving older friends for a new one. They are all very nice. If you just come up with a smile and participate with us, they’ll be your friends, too.
Just then, Peter and Sam joined them. As Alex was getting up to leave. Ron clenched his hand and asked him to stay. Though Alex was nervous, yet he stayed to give it a chance. All ofthem opened their lunch boxes. Ron started by offering to share his sandwiches with all. Soon, Alex was sharing not just his lunch with others, but also a hearty laugh.Ian joined them too. He was really happy to see Alex laughing heartily after such a long time. The five boys became good friends. They always had fun, not just in school, but after school as well. Alex realized that a new friendship does not mean the end of an older one. It was always good to make new friends.
