've had a lot of requests for more drone lessons as of late and thought Sunn O)))'s Richard, the opening track from ØØ Void, would make a good one. The song is essentially composed of a single repeating riff with some longer drones in the middle and at the end. Unlike many Sunn O))) songs, which are played in free time, Richard is for the most part played in 4/4 at 68bpm.

The ØØ Void record seems to be tuned to Drop Ab (Drop G#) as opposed to Sunn O)))'s more typical tuning of Drop A.

Richard is played in the key of Ab Minor using the Natural Minor Scale {R, M2, b3, p4, p5, b6, b7} along with added dissonance from the M7 and b2 intervals.
