This concerto for guitar and orchestra was composed for guitarist Andrés Segovia, to which the 'gentleman' in the titel refers. The four movements are based on six short dances for solo guitar by the 17th-century Spanish composer Gaspar Sanz.

Dutch classical guitarist George Reijnders (1995) started his studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague as a student in the class of Enno Voorhorst. George completed his musical education with a Master of Music at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, Belgium, for which he received a scholarship from ‘Het Cultuurfonds’. In 2021 he graduated ‘magna cum laude’, having studied with Goran Krivokapić and Raphaella Smits. George plays a guitar built by Andrés D. Marvi, which he was able to purchase with financial support from ‘Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument’.

Iddo van der Giessen (1995) is a concert organist and church musician. A native of The Netherlands, he is presently Cantor and Organist at the Protestant congregation of the Goede Herderkerk in Rotterdam. He graduated with a 9 out of 10 for his Master of Music degree at the Royal Conservatory, having been student of Jos van der Kooy. Iddo completed his education in Liturgical Music at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. He participated in lessons and masterclasses with Ronald de Jong, Bert Mooiman, Geert Bierling, Hayo Boerema, Anton Pauw, Leo van Doeselaar and Ludger Lohmann. He recorded CDs in Rotterdam and Haarlem (St. Bavo) and regularly publishes articles about (church) music, liturgy and history.
