On Jan. 7, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners is holding a public hearing to discuss the proposed formation of a new government entity that could potentially change water utilities for Winchester Ridge residents: the Winchester Ridge Domestic Water Supply District (WRDWSD).

The new district would manage water utility services for domestic residents living in Winchester Ridge, a neighborhood in the unincorporated community of Winchester, located west of Roseburg.

Currently, water services in this area are managed by the Winchester Water Control District (WWCD), which oversees an area stretching west to east from Interstate 5 to just beyond Live Oak Court and behind Chinkapin Court. The WWCD also oversees and manages the Winchester Dam.
