Скачать или смотреть UGC Rules Stayed by Supreme Court – Major Update | Tansukh Paliwal | Linking Laws

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered that the University Grants Commission (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026, be kept in abeyance.

The Court expressed certain reservations about the Regulations, which are being challenged as discriminatory towards "general classes". The Court suggested that the Regulations must be revisited by a committee comprising eminent jurists.

The Regulations are prima facie "vague" and are "capable of misuse", the Court observed during the hearing.
