We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story (72 min)

Synopsis: In the prehistoric age, the kindly Captain NewEyes arrives in his time-traveling airship to feed four dinosaurs his own special Brain Grain Cereal. The high-tech breakfast dramatically raises the IQs of Rex (a gentle tyrannosaur), Elsa (a flying pterodactyl), Dweeb (a duck-billed hadrosaurus), and Woog (a triceratops with an appetite for hot dogs). Captain NewEyes offers the group a chance to follow him to the future, where millions of human children are waiting to meet them. Their adventures get off to a rousing start as the dinosaurs join an exciting Thanksgiving Day parade. Along the way, they are joined by Louie (a New York street kid longing for a friend) and Cecilia (a well-mannered but lonely little girl). But there are other interested parties as well: Professor ScrewEyes, the Captain’s evil brother, decides he wants the dinosaurs to be the star attractions in his Eccentric Circus. Can Louie and Cecilia rescue their new friends from Professor ScrewEyes?

Trivia:
• Original score composed by James Horner;
• To promote the movie's release, a giant helium balloon of Rex the T-Rex was included in the real-life 1993 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York. Unfortunately, high winds caused the Rex to strike a protruding street light and pop, but the rest of the dinosaur's body remained inflated until the end of the parade.
• Actor John Malkovich was originally set to voice the role of Professor Screweyes but dropped out because of disagreements with the directors.
• Late in production, Spielberg made $1 million worth of changes to the film at the insistence of MCA CEO Sid Sheinberg, following a bad test screening at Universal. These changes included the addition of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, in which Rex sings "Roll Back the Rock."
