Ganesh Sthapana, Mamera, Haldi and Janeu, today's shaadi vlog is filled with the love of my friends and family and all the masti that we did on 3rd of November. One day before the wedding. All the rituals were done the same day. It was hectic but too much fun.

Ganesh Sthapana is the first wedding ritual in my culture. We always start any new thing with remembering Ganpati bappa. It's not compulsory but usually everyone wears red and especially bandhni/bandhej for this ritual. Red is an auspicious color in Hindu rituals, but Bandhej is like the cherry on top of a cake in Marwaris.

Mamera is the mother's special ritual. Bride or groom, doesn't matter. Mother takes an auspicious vessel, puts it on her head and then welcomes all her family members to the wedding. All the maternal side family members of the bride/groom. They bring gifts for her and a bandhej saree.

Haldi, I guess everyone knows about it. It's a common popular tradition that most of everyone does it nowadays. Haldi, Mehandi, Sangeet are some functions that non-hindus also do as they're fun.
People usually wear yellow for Haldi but we wanted to go a different track so, we chose lavender color. People wearing all shades of lavender actually looked better than we'd hoped.

Janeu, my favorite function from that day. As you can see, it's the most fun one. We're no brahmins, so we don't have our janeu in the childhood. Janeu is an auspicious thread that Brahmins wear around their shoulder to waist, it symbolizes a way of life that they live. In our culture, we have our Janeu during our wedding and we can remove it after a few days.
Then comes the fun part. In a matter of minutes, we become a student, we beg everyone for some money and then run to get education, maternal uncle comes to take us back and then we're finally ready for marriage.
