Lecture 64 FTTH Passive Optical Networks

Описание к видео Lecture 64 FTTH Passive Optical Networks

This FOA lecture is about Fiber to the Home Passive Optical Networks (PONs). PONs have become the FTTH network of choice for performance and cost reasons. This video covers PON standards, performance and options for upgrades.

FOA created its first lecture on Fiber to the Home/Premises/Curb/Business/etc. soon after we were asked to create a FTTH training program and help recruit contractors and installers for Verizon's new FiOS FTTH project. After all that time, the description of FTTH in Lecture 25 is still valid, but new technology in PONSs like 10G PON, and components such as cables, closures and prefab cabling, have made major improvements in the performance, cost and installation of FTTH networks.

To update the original FOA Lecture 25, we have chosen to create 4 new lectures #63 to 66 covering FTTH architectures, PONs, FTTH network design and FTTH installation and test. We think you will find these updates useful.

See FOA Lecture 68 on YouTube to learn how to build your own demonstration PON network using equipment you can buy online.
