Cop Shoot Cop is actually a supergroup, bringing together musicians from several legendary New York bands. Jack Natz (formerly of Undead) bass and Tod Ashley (formerly of Shithaus with Jon Spencer and formerly of Dig Dat Hole) both on bass, Phil Puleo (formerly of Dig Dat Hole) on percussion, and Jim Coleman on samples first attracted critical attention for their guitar-less lineup and raunchy Pussy Galore-esque attitudes, but they soon gained a reputation among punks for the most violent and vulgar shows of the era, with a particular fondness for themes of suicide and murder.
