Partial Day Attendance in Canadian Schools: Round Table

Описание к видео Partial Day Attendance in Canadian Schools: Round Table

Being forced to attend school for only part of the day can disrupt a child's learning continuity, hinder academic progress, and cause feelings of isolation due to missed social interactions. This fragmented schedule can exacerbate behavioural and mental health issues, negatively affecting both the child and the classroom environment. Additionally, the stigma of partial attendance can damage a child's self-esteem and confidence, creating long-term barriers to personal growth. The negative impact is far-reaching and severe. And – it is counter to Canada's Education and Human Rights Laws!

Inclusive Education Canada invited a panel of informed and insightful Canadians to discuss the issue and identify the actions that can lead to change.

On Our Panel:
Moderator: Diane Richler – Inclusion International. Toronto
Bruce Uditsky, CEO Emeritus of Inclusion Alberta
Lesley Trudel, Associate Dean of Education, University of Winnipeg & former administrator in a Manitoba Public School District.
Gordon L. Porter, Director, Inclusive Education Canada

Special Guest: Kelly Lamrock, K.C. – Child and Youth Advocate, New Brunswick

Mr. Lamrock released a report that focuses on the issue of partial day attendance. It is entitled: 'A Policy of Giving Up': How New Brunswick Schools Illegally Stopped Educating Hundreds of Children, and Why Government Needs To Protect Vulnerable Children.

We invite you to review the report:
