I’ve been told that birds wake up early in the morning to practice their call. Much like we sound in the morning when we wake up and our voice is a little scratchy, I heard birds are similar. They practice and then by later in the day their song sounds much better. In this case, this was around 3 o’clock in the afternoon and this gray catbird has a pretty scratchy sounding call. Sometimes strange calls and songs come from immature birds. Have you experienced this? What do you think?
