My version of this classic Indian dish blends yellow lentils with a fragrant mix of spices, resulting in a savory and nutritious meal. I mix 1 cup chana dal and 1/4 cup masoor ( split red lentils). I always soak for at least 4 hours. The longer you soak it, the creamier the texture will be. My kids like their dal thick so I only add 2 cups water in this recipe. You can always add more water if you like thinner consistency.
