You saw the 16-bit Megadrive, how about the 32-bit Sony Playstation?! Optimal settings are more of a hassle than a boon for the PS1 so Generic 4:3 is the way to go here. Due to the expanded colour palette, there are less areas of solid colour to show off the 4:2:2 colour space artefacts.

This was recorded from my up to date (as of this video) RetroTINK 5X running in Generic 4:3 mode at 1080p Fill. This went into my AVerMedia LiveGamer 4K card via XRGB and recorded in OBS.
