In this video I tried to used the new XF70-300mm F4-5.6 and my all around lens 50-140mm 2.8 in birding. Both lenses I tried in taking videos as well as in photos. Both lenses give a satisfactory sharpness and detailed subjects. Autofocus on both were also fast using the xt4 as a body camera.
On the reach of both lenses in this particular field of photography the 70-300mm has the advantage. The 50-140mm can do but you need to crop your images that will change and reduce the quality and pixels of your original images.
