Harry Potter Actors Who Were Recast

The making of the Harry Potter movies was chaotic to say the least! Many actors had to be replaced over the course of years worth of filming, and for multiple reasons too. Richard Harris passed away, which forced the director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Alfonso Cuarón, to seek out another actor for the role of Dumbledore. He eventually found the perfect actor in Michael Gambon, although the role has also been taken on by Jude Law in the Fantastic Beasts series, and it is set to be recast again in the wake of the news of the upcoming HBO Max series. Warner Bros. decided not to replace the actor of Vincent Crabbe, even after Jamie Waylett had lost the role, and so his character was just sort of replaced with Blaise Zibini. The actress who first appeared as Pansy Parkinson has actually gone on to a surprisingly successful acting career; you can see Genevieve Gaunt on the E! original series The Royals. The original actor to take on the role of Bill Weasley was eventually replaced by Domnhall Gleeson, the son of Brendan Gleeson, the actor of Mad-Eye Moody. And did you know that Robert Pattinson wasn’t the first actor to appear as Cedric Diggory? At the end of the day, we’re just glad that Warner Bros. never needed to replace any of our main cast members! The Harry Potter movies simply would not feel the same if it didn’t have Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, or Tom Felton in the roles they were given!
