Hiking the Choishi Michi Pilgrimage Trail to Koyasan | Japan

Описание к видео Hiking the Choishi Michi Pilgrimage Trail to Koyasan | Japan

This ancient pilgrimage trail leads to Koyasan, the center of Shingon Buddhism in Japan. Back in the day, pilgrims would prostrate themselves at each of the 180 stone markers (AKA choishi) on their way up to Koyasan. We just took pictures of them instead.

The hike took us about 8 hours, with plenty of picture time included. Along the way we passed by a narrow rock which we squeezed our bodies through, supposedly granting us longevity.
