Nandan is a govt. sponsored film & cultural centre in Kolkata which is having a primary aim to encourage & facilitate cinematic awareness in society.
Location: Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose road, Kolkata
Inaugurated on 2nd Sep, 1985 by Satyajit Ray and renovated on April 2011.
The foundation stone of Nandan was laid by former CM of Bengal Jyoti Basu in 1980.
Main architect: Bikash Naskar
This is the main centre for Kolkata International Film Festival. The Logo of Nandan designed by film maker Satyajit Ray.
The Nandan committee are headed by film director Sandip Ray. The program organized here: Kolkata International film festival, Little Magazine festival, Sangeet mela and so on.
Sisir Mancha is the auditorium regularly used for bengali theaters.
the Biswa Bangla Lok Sanskriti Utsav was organized from Dec 25, 2023 to Jan 1, 2024. This was inaugurated by CM Mamta Banerjee. This exhibition is all about handicrafts made by tribal groups of Bengal, which was held at Gaganendra Exhibition centre in Rabindra Sadan complex.
