Separation - taking the hero out of their day-to-day life
Initiation - learning a new way of being or living
Return - going back to their day-to-day life with new ideas

Ordinary World - a hero's regular life
Special World - a suspension of a hero's regular life (usually geographical or a new person)

The Mother - an amoral figure which represents nature or the world
The Father - a moral figure which represents all aspects of morality

Herald - the person or thing that spikes the hero's curiosity to learn something new
Allies - characters that help the hero
Threshold Guardian - protectors of knowledge
Shadow - the most dangerous obstacle
