I’m starting to harvest some of my Southern Cowpeas - Zipper Cream Peas and Black Eyed Peas. I will continue harvesting the peas over the next couple of weeks and then will cut down the pea plants to clear space for my fall crops. After my harvest, I show how you can tell when the peas are ready to be picked fresh or dried.
These were planted from seed the last weekend in June, as a cover crop for the summer. It is now the first weekend in September and the first flush of peas are ready for harvest.
