For those who are unsure, I would always recommend to start with medium gauge strings and also a ball end E string. Loop ends are loops(obviously) and they simply 'loop' onto the end of the fine tiner you will have for the E string, but be careful that some fine tuners will NOT accommodate a loop end string. Go for a ball end if unsure.
