Armor set values

Heavy Armor vs Light in general
Heavy armor makes the previous biomes safer
Heavy armor is ideal when you are doing something that you've already done before, and you are distracted, or being careless, or you want to be able to ignore greydwarves. Heavy armor is great if you prefer a playstyle based on blocking, dodging, and parrying during melee combat.

Light armor makes it easier to explore the next biome
Light armor is ideal when you are observing enemies from biomes that you are not familiar with. Light armor makes exploration more rewarding and makes it easier to run away from monsters and avoid attacks. Light armor is great if you prefer a playstyle based on movement, avoiding enemy attacks using shift instead of blocking or dodging.

Leather 6/24

Introduces workbench crafting, upgrades quadruple armor value

Bronze 24/42 -10% movement

Introduces forge crafting, probably the least useful armorset

Troll Leather 18/36

High mobility, good armor, useful in many biomes

Iron Armor 42/60 -10% movement

Amazing armor in regular mode or easy mode. Underwhelming in harder modes, consider skipping iron armor on harder difficulties

Root Armor 24/42 -4% movement +15 bow +pierce resist +poison resist

Highly useful due to most players using predominantly bows. Pierce resistance is incredible for the plains.

Heavy Wolf Armor 60/78 -10% movement +frost resist

Good armor if you did not get iron armor and you want a heavy armor set. Consider it an optional set.

Fenris Armor 30/48 +9% movement+ frost resist + fire resist +15 unarmed

Incredibly useful armor in hard difficulties due to the increased movement speed, frost resistance, and fire resistance. In regular mode, fenris is good, but rather squishy compares to heavy armor available. Fenris armor is the best armor in the game for exploration; allowing you to outrun every enemy in the game, even deathsquitos.

Padded Armor 78/96 -10% movement

Padded armor makes biomes such as the swamp significantly safer; so it can be a great armor to use while grinding resources. The padded armor is significantly lighter than other heavy armor sets, which helps you hold more resources. Don't expect padded armor to save you from Mistlands creatures; although you might survive a hit or two.

Carapace Armor 96/102 -10% movement
showvideoin_plainsbase goto -6597 1665
Padded armor makes every other biome in the game significantly safer; allowing you to survive a few hits even from Mistlands creatures. The carapace armor is currently the best end game armor; so you'll enjoy Valheim more if you take the time to fight and farm the resources to fully upgrade it.

Mage Armor 48/54 -4% movement +100% Eitr Regen

Made armor is glass cannon armor. Lots of players underestimate just how much damage this armor allows players to dish out. Nothing in valheim does anywhere near as much damage to groups of monsters as fire magic. Fire magic allows you to absolutely demolish everything in every biome, even in the Mistlands. Fire magic is the strongest-feeling weapon currently available in valheim. Doubling that damage with this armor is no joke.

Hildir Request Armor -30% Stamina Usage

The only armor that reduces stamina usage. Hildir's request adds lots of different colors but there are actually only 2 slots - heads and chest pieces. Pick your favorite color. Consider pairing them with Fenris pants for the 3% movement speed. Great for base activities such as forging, farming, cooking or building.

Dvergr Light

This item is incredibly useful because it is a permanent light source, making tasks in the more peaceful biomes at night much easier. This is a great item to use when building during the dark, or for gathering resources during the night in earlier biomes. Its particularly useful in places such as Crypts and Sunken Crypts
