As the growing number of senior citizen's begin to leave their homes to travel more in life. My wife and I have done the same thing, we take short trips to nearby destinations. Through the years we've travelled to Florida, the Sunshine State on numerous occasions, often staying for a single day in any area. However this time, we choose to stay a bit longer. During our travels we decided to visit a very quaint attraction. St. Augustine, Florida, simply known as the oldest continuously inhabited European-establishment in the U.S. The city was established in approximately (1565). Founded by Spanish explorers, it predates Jamestown and Plymouth. It served as Spain's key military and trade hub for centuries, which helped shape Florida's colonial history. St. Augustine served as Spain's military, religious, and administrative center for Florida. Instrumental in controlling various trade routes and expanding into the New World. Strolling through the streets in St. Augustine there are many iconic buildings, such as Ponce De Leon Hotel, which is now Flagler College, Old Jail, and the Oldest School House believed to have been built in the 1400's. As you stroll the streets you see the Spanish influence in its architecture, the restaurants and various other establishments. During this trip we stumbled across the beautifully decorated city of St. Augustine adorned in thousands of Christmas decorations, better known as "Knights of Lights" highlighting the beauty of the place. Highly recommend you visit St. Augustine, not just during the off season but Holiday Season as well. Either time is welcoming with tourism and is a must see place to visit.
