The U.K. National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has issued a warning about spear-phishing attacks by Russian and Iranian state-sponsored actors that are aimed at gathering information. The NCSC stated that the attacks are targeted at specific sectors such as academia, defense, government organizations, NGOs, think tanks, as well as politicians, journalists and activists. The agency has attributed the intrusions to two groups, SEABORGIUM and APT42, noting that while there are similarities in their methods, there is no evidence of collaboration between the two groups.
