Franchisors want franchisees to follow the system, but compliance issues aren’t just about rule-breaking, they’re about understanding, buy-in, and support.

If your field team isn’t trained to uncover why a franchisee isn’t compliant, they’ll never be able to fix the root problem.

One of my favorite sayings: "If you can name it, you can tame it." Once your team knows why compliance issues are happening, they can actually do something about it, coaching franchisees toward solutions, alignment, and ultimately, stronger system-wide success.

So before you blame compliance issues on "difficult franchisees," ask yourself: Does my field team have the training to address the real problem? If not, that’s where you start.
