Rainbow Six Siege Confuses Me

I think my friends and I play Rainbow Six Siege so unbelievably wrong, that it's beginning to confuse me. Wind Bastion has been the weirdest season so far.
Why do we sit there and look at Castle's teeth for half a game? Why do we constantly run into Nomad airjabs with no regard to our life advantage? WHY ARE WE THE WAY WE ARE?
