We solve a relatively complex setup using Hamiltonian dynamics. To obtain the Hamiltonian from the Lagrangian, we have to solve a system of linear equations, whence the title. Two sets of initial conditions are proposed: the first one passes the common sense test, and the second one leads to simple harmonic oscillations in all the masses.
