Plot: Kolkata police detective Shabor Dasgupta sets out to solve the murder case of Mitali Ghosh, a woman with a messy past. Her ex-husband Mithu Mitra, ex-boyfriend Pantu and friend Samiran are the prime suspects and so is her cousin Joyeeta. His investigation reveals a complex web of relationships gone sour that gives almost everyone a good motive.
Synopsis:
"Ebar Shabor" is a 2015 Indian Bengali-language mystery-thriller film directed by Arindam Sil. The movie revolves around Kolkata police detective Shabor Dasgupta, played by Saswata Chatterjee, who investigates the murder of Mitali Ghosh, a woman with a troubled past. Mitali was killed on the night she hosted a party for friends and family, and several suspects emerge, including:
Mitali's Ex-Husband: Mithu Mitra (Abir Chatterjee), whom she divorced after a brief marriage, but later realized her love for him too late. He subsequently started dating Mitali's cousin, Joyeeta (Payel Sarkar).
Mitali's Ex-Boyfriend: Pantu Haldar (Ritwick Chakraborty), who was left heartbroken and suffered severe physical and emotional trauma due to Mitali's decision to leave him after they eloped. This trauma led to his erectile dysfunction and career downfall.
Mitali's Friend: Samiran (Rahul Banerjee), a secret admirer who had relationships with multiple women, including Julekha Sharma (June Malia), a school's physical education teacher, and Khonika (Debolina Dutta).
As Shabor digs deeper, he uncovers a complex web of relationships and disturbing secrets within the Ghosh family. Some key revelations include:
Mitali's father had an affair with Doyel, a poor nurse, resulting in a son. Doyel attempted to blackmail him into marrying her but was unsuccessful.
Julekha, who was involved with Pantu, was forced into prostitution to support her son and had a tumultuous encounter with Pantu, further fueling his anger.
The investigation ultimately reveals that Pantu, driven by frustration and anger stemming from his past experiences with Mitali, stabbed her six times, claiming three stabs were from him and three from Mithu. The film explores themes of complex relationships, societal pressures, and the darker aspects of human nature.
