The Federal Government has appealed for patience as repair and construction works are stepped up on several roads nationwide.

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, made the appeal on saturday while inspecting the Apapa/Oshodi expressway in company of the President of the Dangote group, Aliko Dangote, in Lagos on Saturday.

The Apapa/Oshodi expressway is one of the most strategic roads in Nigeria because of its importance to the economic development of the country. It is the major route to the nation's premier ports complex in Apapa.

The road was opened in the 70's and now it is under reconstruction through the tax credit scheme by the Dangote group to the tune of 73 billion naira.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, while on an inspection of the project, said patience is required on the part of Nigerians as the road goes through reconstruction from the current eight lanes to a ten lane highway of rigid pavement.
Comptroller of works in Lagos, Adedamola Kuti, explained the process of the reconstruction and assured that a high quality project will be delivered at the end.
On his part, the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said he will continue to partner with the government in the provision of infrastructure to Nigerians.
The the 32-kilometre Apapa-Oshodi-Oworonshoki-Ojota expressway road
project is expected to be completed in 2020.
