DIFFERENCE BETWEEN UNFAIR LABOUR PRACTICES & UNFAIR DISMISSAL

This video discusses the difference between unfair labour practices and unfair dismissal.
Unfair Labour Practices relates to something that is on-going at the workplace. In terms of the labour relations acts, unfair labour practices are unfair conduct from the employer to the employee. You have a right to refer unfair labour practices to the CCMA for arbitration. The CCMA will look into the matter of how the employer is treating you in the workplace.
An unfair dismissal relates to when you have been dismissed from work, the actual termination of employment. You can refer the case to the CCMA for an unfair dismissal.
Both, unfair labour practices and unfair dismissal have a limited timeframe for the case to be referred to CCMA. Once the time has been missed, you would need to fill out a Condonation Application.
