Most people watch a clip like this and just see a cool social media moment. What I see is the bigger picture.

Training with a parent is one of the most overlooked opportunities in health because it impacts things that actually matter as we age:

🦴 Bone density 💪🏽 Muscle retention and strength🤸‍♂️ Joint stability and balance🩸 Insulin sensitivity and metabolic health😎 Confidence and coordination in daily life
That’s why I liked this clip with @coacheugeneteo and his mom.

HOWEVER, there’s context most people don’t think about:
➡️Not everyone has a coach in the family➡️Athletic movements need progressions➡️Years under the bar & health history matter➡️Skill work and development take time➡️Most people should start with bodyweight patterns, dumbbells, cables, and machines before looking like they are training for the next Marvel movie Or Mission impossible 7 especially if they don’t have the oversight of an experienced coach.
And the nutrition side is just as essential:
🥩 Adequate protein☀️ Micronutrients that support bone formation and muscle (D3/K2, calcium, magnesium)🍽️ Enough total nourishment to maintain lean tissue as activity increases

If I was training your mom we’d start with 2-3 days per week and we’d incorporate movements like some dumbbell work, unilateral squat patterns, anti rotation, and likely our fair share of upper back accessory work along with working up to the trap bar deadlift shown here.
Because training and nutrition can serve as preventative medicine long before someone walks into a doctors office.
