Mother and daughter: Life after the lab

Описание к видео Mother and daughter: Life after the lab

Nanette and Gabby began their relationship as mother and daughter at a primate biomedical research facility—a rare occurrence, given that infant macaques were typically taken from their mothers at this particular laboratory. After surviving life in research, they were eventually retired to sanctuary. They've now spent over 20 years at Black Beauty Ranch together. See the amazing and unique story of their enduring bond—one that few macaques in research are afforded.

Founded in 1979 by author and animal advocate Cleveland Amory, Black Beauty Ranch is home to nearly 1,000 domestic and exotic animals, many of whom were rescue from slaughterhouses, biomedical research laboratories and trophy hunting ranches. Others came from roadside zoos or were victims of the exotic pet trade. Bison and cattle, horses and burros, antelope and apes, reptiles and tigers-all have permanent, safe homes on the ranch's 1,400+ acres.
