Описание к видео Waterphone MegaBass (made by the inventor, Richard Waters, 2011)

This is an old video. I have shot and recorded a better and more recent demonstration here    • Comment jouer du Waterphone MegaBass ...

The Waterphone is an extraordinary invention (musical instrument) dating back to the late 60s, producing prodigious sounds, and used a lot in movie soundtracks (Lalo Schifrin and Don Davis, just to name a few). (See http://www.waterphone.com for more details on the instrument and the inventor, Richard Waters)

This is one of the very first times I played on my newly received Waterphone MegaBass, made for me by the inventor, Richard Waters. It is much more a basic experimentation/discovery session than an actual piece of music.

My camera does not catch all the frequencies, but you can notice how rich the sound is on the MegaBass Waterphone, both in the high and low tones.

For this video I played without water inside the Waterphone (no water wa-wa effect) to show how great sounding the instrument is even when played "dry!" It is best to use a bass bow, but since I am a cellist, I play better with a cello bow. In the video I tried to show that depending on bow pressure and speed, different notes can be played on just one rod!

I will put more videos when I will have experienced more!
