Описание к видео Book review 64: It's Different This Time by Joss Richard

Book review 64: It’s Different This Time by Joss Richard — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I just finished this book and wow… I was hooked from start to finish. It’s Different This Time is a second-chance romance with close proximity, miscommunication, and a dual timeline that pulls you right in.

We follow June Wood, a former theater actress who left New York—and her complicated ex–best friend/roommate Adam—to chase a TV and film career in LA. Five years later, she’s suddenly called back to NYC for a mysterious meeting about the property she and Adam lived in together for six years.

When she arrives, she runs straight into the one person she’s been trying not to think about: Adam, now a successful chef and the owner of a highly reputable New York restaurant.

And honestly… male leads who are chefs? That is absolutely one of my weaknesses. There’s just something incredibly attractive about a man who can cook, command a kitchen, and pour his passion into his craft — and Adam checks every box.

At the meeting, June and Adam discover they’ve unexpectedly inherited the house they once shared. With a month before the final signing, June stays in New York, and the forced proximity brings back all the unresolved chemistry, tension, and emotions they never dealt with.

The dual timeline is so well done, weaving together the past and present to show how their relationship formed, fell apart, and how much they’ve grown in the years they’ve been apart. The pacing is perfect — never slow, never rushed — just that ideal flow that keeps you turning pages.

Their big confrontation genuinely made me think their second chance was over… until a final reveal brings everything full circle and gives them the closure they’ve been needing.

This is an amazing debut novel — emotional, engaging, beautifully structured, and full of heart. I loved every minute of it.

Highly, highly recommend — a solid 5-star read.

Many thanks to @NetGalley, Ballantine, and @Joss Richard for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
