This performance was the final Ann Arbor concert before the tour. It was on a Sunday afternoon (in January) and was the second concert from that weekend. Two days prior to the Mendez concert, the Symphony Band performed on a concert that was part of the annual Midwestern Music Conference. The Friday night concert was shared with the University Choir and University Symphony Orchestra. Mendez did not perform on the Friday concert. According to newspaper accounts, the Sunday concert was SRO. Many of those attending the Conference stayed one extra day to hear the Symphony Band (and Mendez).
