Saint Rafqa (http://rafqa.com/): Lebanese Maronite Nun with the Lebanese Maronite Order (1832 – 1914)- She prayed to Jesus to permit her to experience some of the sufferings He endured during His Passion. For the next 12 years, until her death, she continued to experience intense pain in her head. She became totally blind. Most of her bones became dislocated. What remained intact were her hands to work; her ears to listen; her tongue to chant; her stomach to eat and her mind to think and contemplate. Throughout this period, as before, she remained patient and uncomplaining, praying in joy for the gift of sharing in Jesus’ suffering. Pope John Paul II canonized her on June 10, 2001. Miracles continue to be granted through her intercession to the present day (2017). Thousands of believers visit her tomb at Saint Joseph's monastery in Jrabta.
