Graining out Your Mash-Lauter Tun

The proper way to grain out your Premier Stainless Systems Mash/Lauter Tun. Do not drain your vessel until completely dry, as this will create a compacted and denser grainbed. With a small amount of liquid remaining, start your rakes, breaking up the grain bed, with all drain valves open.

Once all liquid is clear and grainbed is broken up, stop your rakes and let down the plow half way. Start the rakes again until about half of the grain is disposed of. Stop the rake and let down the plow the rest of the way, then start the rakes one last time.

Run the rakes and plow until the majority of grain is disposed of. If manual hoe grain disposal is necessary, STOP the rakes and once they are no longer moving, use the hoe to manually grain out.
