Hey Boys & Girls Club Families! Welcome back for our second episode of the Boys & Girls Club Virtual Programming. Today, we have recruited special guests from our Kromer Branch who will be your guide! The incredible staff will help you stay informed by sharing the latest Club updates and help your mind and body stay active with fun activities that you can recreate at home!

Below are instructions for the Trashketball activity in today's program video:

Supplies needed -
crumpled up balls of paper for each person (what a great use of old homework notes!)
A small trash can
Sample math problems or sight words

Pencil & paper for each player… or white board & dry erase markers
Optional - stopwatch timer - only for one player variation

of people -
One.. or MORE! --- This is traditionally played as a race between two people/teams but you can play by yourself if you set a stopwatch timer and try to beat your best time.
It is also helpful to have a volunteer “referee” to double check that your answers are correct. You can ask a parent or older sibling to help.

Set Up-
Give each player the same math problem to complete or sight word to spell (sight words can be called out by the referee or use picture cards). Keep upside down or have backs turned to board.
Set a pile of three crumpled paper balls next to each participant
Place a trash can about 6-8 feet away (use tape or pillow to show free throw line)

Directions -
Have participants count down …. “3-2-1 - GO!” - flip over paper or turn around to board and start writing out answers to problems or spelling words. If playing by yourself - start a timer.
Once the problem is finished or word is spelled correctly the participant can start shooting “trashkets” with their balled up paper into the trash can
1 point per trashket. Keep taking turns until all players have had a chance to solve a problem and shoot. Break a tie using a single shot speed round - first to solve problem and get a “trashket” wins!
