An interview with Veterinarian Derek Major about the evolution of drug testing in Australian racing, Drug testing transparency, Why is cobalt seen as a performance enhancer and where did the myth start? and with the current tests becoming so sensitive what does this mean for participants?

Derek Major has been an Equine Veterinary Surgeon and Practitioner for more than 35 years. In 1989 he co-founded Agnes Banks Equine Clinic and for 25 years was Managing Director and Principal.

He has been heavily involved in the horse industry, consulting in and participating in equestrian sport. He divested his business interest in Agnes Banks Equine Clinic in December 2015, and continues to participate as requested, while branching out into a consultancy business, Derek Major Consulting Pty Ltd.
