He was a local star at Ohio State where as a sophomore he led the Buckeyes to their best tournament run in over 30 years. When he got to the NBA he was buried on the bench behind great scorers like Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson in Milwaukee. He wasn’t known as a shooter when he entered the league, but worked to become one of the greatest shooters of his generation. When Ray Allen was traded during his third season, he got a better chance alongside Sam Cassell and Gary Payton, but once those two left, the Bucks were Redd’s team and he would respond with 5 straight seasons averaging over 20 points per game. At his best, he could hang with the best of them, but he played on bad Bucks teams whose other top players were Mo Williams and Andrew Bogut. But sadly for Redd, at just 29 years old, he blew out his knee, then a year later, he blew it out again. After this he was never the same player and only lasted a few more years in the league. But before the injuries, Michael Redd was one of the most complete scorers in the NBA and had proved a lot of his doubters wrong throughout his career.
