Masias Recycling has patented a system that closes the waste cycle and enables final MSW treatment plant reject of less than 4%, thereby minimising the quantity of waste going to landfill. To achieve this goal, the company has designed a system that, apart from recovering recyclables, creates a new product called Green SRF. Due to its composition and calorific value, this product is assimilable to biomass. In addition, a Plastics SRF with a high calorific value is also obtained and this is suitable for burning in cement kilns.

The objective was to enable the waste cycle to be closed and achieve the maximum recovery of materials entering the plant. Indeed, the aim was to achieve this to the greatest possible extent within the facility itself and thus reduce the degree of dependence of recycling plants on third parties. This new way of treating waste satisfies a very clear, long-standing need in the sector. As of now, failure to avail of waste is still very common and for this reason, the development of new solutions requires questioning of current parameters.
