The Clark County Museum exhibit "Art and Artists of Southern Nevada: Selected Works from the Collections of the Clark County Museum" appears through Feb. 23, 2020, inside its Heritage Gallery. The exhibit features paintings, watercolors, etchings and prints featuring the talents of Nevada artists. Some of the artists featured in the exhibit include Roy Purcell, the Clark County Museum's first director; Cliff Segerblom, an internationally known artist and photographer and the late father of Commissioner Tick Segerblom; Blake Morrison, U.S. Air Force captain once stationed at Nellis Air Force Base; Bertha Gresh, known as the Queen Mother of Nelson and Eldorado Canyon, and others. The Clark County Museum's primary emphasis is on the collection and display of artifacts related to Southern Nevada history and pre-history. It doesn't actively collect artwork, but over its 51 years of operation the museum has received many works by local artists. The Clark County Museum is the oldest and largest in the Las Vegas Valley with more than 1 million artifacts. It occupies a 30-acre site at 1830 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson and features a modern exhibit hall with a timeline exhibit about Southern Nevada from pre-historic to modern times and a collection of restored historic buildings on popular Heritage Street and the surrounding grounds, depicting daily life from different decades in Las Vegas, Boulder City, Henderson and Goldfield, Nevada. It is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Entry is just $2 per person, except seniors (55 and older) and children (younger than 18), who are $1 each.
