Here's reason number 4 - we can pick up great cameras for 'next-to-nothing' (well, not quite, but at a massive discount on the prices they were when they were new).

So, if you're thinking you've just forked out on the latest top-of-the-range digital model and the last thing you want to do now is spend more money on 'old' technology, think again - it won't cost you much and you will gain so much.

#4. You can get great cameras for pennies on the dollar.

This is a big one.

Back when I first took up photography, I couldn't even dream of having the cameras that I now own.

But when digital came along, an awful lot of folks decided to 'upgrade' (or, at least, that's how they thought of it) and funded the purchase of their new digital kit by selling off their film cameras -- and the market was flooded.

Still is.

You can still jump on ebay and pick up cameras that 10 years ago would have set you back $1,000 or more for under $100.

And here's the cool thing, most of the time, folks who fork out $1,000+ on a camera tend to look after them -- so there's a good chance you'll get a great camera in perfect working order for less than the cost of dinner for 2 in a decent restaurant.
